Late Persian Ewer EWER (PC-085)
Region From: Likely Isfahan or Shiraz, Persia, although possibly imported.
Estimated Date of Production: Mid 1800s.
Dimensions: 191 mm in height, 101 mm in circumference (both measurements excluding spout).
Weight: 411 grams
Colour: Cobalt Blue.
Technique: Solid pontil, applied ring, finger handle, rigaree, decorated spout.
Description: Same glass as used in PC-010.
Condition: Spout snapped off by previous owner’s son when he jumped on their suitcase in the airport.
Provenance: Purchased Summer 2013 from the previous owner, now living in the USA. According to her, this ewer and PC-086 were used together as ceremonial ewers in a palace in Persia by one of her forefathers.
