PC-010 ROSE WATER SPRINKLER (PC-010)
Region From: Possibly Persian.
Estimated Date of Production: Early to mid 1800s.
Dimensions: 317 mm in height, 98 mm in circumference.
Weight: 383 grams.
Colour: Cobalt blue.
Technique: Glass pontilled, freeblown, five indentations in base. Tiny string of glass occlusion from neck to spout.
Description: Neck is delightfully formed, though while I understand the base may have been crimped in to add stability (?), it certainly doesn’t make for a more graceful form.
Condition: Mint, fresh, as blown.
Provenance: Purchased June 2013, from a Florida collector who had owned it for 40 years. Very similar (likely identical) glass to two Rose Water Ewers contained in this collection, which were used in Persia in the mid-1800s and which have been in the same family until purchased by me in 2013.
Literature: none.
Related Works outside this collection: very similar bottle sold in 2008, in photo at top of Rose Water Bottles page.
